Foxy Cuisine's Jammin' Recipes
We made a couple types of Jam because fruit preserves keep for months and can be used for many other recipes.
PREP TIME: 30 Minutes COOK TIME: 10 Minutes COOL TIME: 1 Hour
MIXED BERRY JAM INGREDIENTS
- 6 oz. Raspberries - 72 Calories
- 6 oz. Blackberries - 73 Calories
- 6 oz. Blueberries - 98 Calories
- 1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar - 387 Calories
- 1/2 Large Lemon's Juice - 9 Calories
- 1/2 Cup Water - 0 Calories
FILLS: 1 500 ml jar = 16.9 oz. - 535 Calories per Jar, 38 Calories per Ounce
STRAWBERRY JAM INGREDIENTS:
- 18 oz. Strawberries - 164 Calories
- 1/2 Cup Granulated Sugar - 387 Calories
- 1/2 Large Lemon's Juice - 9 Calories
- 1/2 Cup Water - 0 Calories
FILLS: One 500 ml jar = 16.9 oz. - 560 Calories per Jar, 34 Calories per Ounce
DIRECTIONS:
- In two separate non-reactive saucepans, gently stir together the mixed berries, sugar, water and lemon juice into one and the strawberries, sugar, water and lemon juice in the other.
- Bring both to a boil over medium heat, reduce the heat to low and cook, uncovered, stirring frequently, until the jam has thickened, about 15 - 20 minutes.
- Remove from heat. Wait 10 minutes to allow jam to continue thickening.
- Ladle the warm jam into the jars. Wipe the rims clean and seal tightly with the lids.
- Wait 24 hours before using to allow the jam to cool, thicken and set to proper consistency.
BONUS RECIPE: MIXED BERRY JELLY:
Today there was juice left over in the saucepans. If this is the case you can use a strainer, to capture the remaining juices and remove any pulp and seeds from the strawberry and mixed berry pans.
- Add back into a saucepan and continue to cook on low for another 15 - 20 minutes to make a jelly.
- Remove from heat. Wait 10 minutes to allow jelly to continue thickening.
- Ladle the warm sauce into the jars. Wipe the rim clean and seal tightly with the lid.
- Wait 24 hours before using to allow the jelly to cool, thicken and set to proper consistency.
